Thursday 1.8.19 saw EMDG members heading off to the HT championships at Swalcliffe.Sadly the 100+ team was no longer a team as 2 team horses went lame at the beginning of the week and despite our best efforts we could not find any replacements.Fiona MacDonald and Kelsey Walker were the remaining team members and competed as individuals – both did extremely well and had double clears and were 2nd and 6th respectively in their individual arenas.

The 100 team set off well and were in a good position after the first day – sadly it was not our year as Anna Griffin had problems at the ditch and was eliminated and Katy Wright had a fall at the first fence.Tom Eastwood completed and despite not having the best of rounds show jumping was 9th in his section.Elaine Hepworth had a run out on the cross country but did a faultless show jumping round and was placed 15th in her section.

Our 90 individual rider, Becky Sisson arrived safely but never got to compete as she hurt her ankle badly when she went over on it – ending up in a trip to A & E – thank you Sara Allwood for providing transport to take her – although not broken Becky's ankle was far too painful for her to ride – obviously upset and frustrated for this year butas they say there is always next year.

Our 80 individual rider, Natasha Brocklehurst riding Anne Varley's Colin had a good competition and finished 16th in her section.

Overall it was a good weekend with plenty of team spirit and support shown – the weather was good – raining on our journey home rather than at the event!
