- Well done to team Amber at the Area 16 Outdoor show jumping qualifier on 15th May 2011 at White House Farm, Eagle Moor...Becky Ball on Finn, Emma Sheppard on Mighty Archer, Julia Hardy on Birrel Brown & Sally Beedham on Spitfire Hill who have qualified for the National Championships at Lincoln Showground in September. Becky was also 2nd overall as an individual. A big thank you and well done to all riders who turned up to ride for our club. Also a big thank you to all the helpers who turned up and gave up a whole day to help make the show run smoothly.....Michelle Clipsham, Steph Hart, Sara Bailey and Roy Pollard. Without volunteer helpers the club would not be able to compete.......again thanks to all and congratulations. Jan Pollard
- Well done to Sally Beedham riding Clare Dolman’s young cob Morris Minor at the BRC Festival of the Horse championships at Aston le walls. They were the sole representatives from EMDG and in strong classes were 3rd and 5th in the working and ridden cob classes and 10th in the Riding club horse.
- Area 16 Horse Trials Qualifier 19th June 2011 was the area 16 horse trials qualifier at Eland Lodge. EMDG sent 5 teams and 2 individuals to compete for places at the national riding club horse trials at Aston Le Walls in August.
Although competition is always stiff in area 16, it was more fiercely fought than ever before, as the week in August at the finals also sees the international 2* running alongside so the atmosphere will be electric.
Our club was well represented, riders and horses performed well overall with some quite exceptional performances from some.
3 novice teams consisted of Cath Cox 5th, Helen Holiday 6th, Lyn Ashley 7th, Emma Sheppard 9th, Nicola Kendle 16th, Angelique Choppin Retired, Kathryn Haseldine 5th, Ellen Duffield 6th, Andrea Pawson 11th, Catherine Jones 12th, Ruth Cater 13th and Elaine Hepworth 14th.
Only 1 team was to qualify for the Finals and EMDG team with Kathryn, Helen, Nicola and Ellen very narrowly missed by just a few points to come 3rd. The other 2 Novice teams were 4th and 6th.
For some of these riders this was the first time representing the club, others on new horses and others never having done a One Day Event before. Some personal bests were achieved and some demons vanquished for our riders as well as putting in a fantastic show for the club.
2 Intermediate teams went consisting of Alex Hill 2nd, Andrea Clarke 3rd, Cath Cox 9th, Elaine Hepworth 19th, Hetty Burnell 21st, Claire McCann 24th and Jodie Lang 28th.
2 teams were to qualify and our team consisting of Andrea, Cath, Elaine and Jody came 2nd so went through. A week in Aston Le Walls and lots of training and work before hand are in store for these 4. Our 2nd Intermediate team ran with only 3 riders so all scores had to count, unfortunately this left them without a qualifying place but as Alex was so highly placed, she qualified her horse Slightly Tipsy as an individual, so she will be going to the finals as well! Alex did in fact have the highest dressage score of the day with an amazing 23.2 penalties (76.8%)!
We fielded 2 Individual Open horses to ride over a very stiff BE novice track! Pity we didn’t manage a third rider because as the tracks get bigger, the class sizes get smaller and we could have easily qualified a team. This class though small was probably the most amazing as both of our riders, Alex on Just Boo and Jacky Bevan on Atui have very little experience at this level and both rode the most fantastic positive rounds. Alex again scored a phenomenal dressage and went clear over all the direct routes to complete in 2nd. Jacky felt that some of the direct routes were too much for her very talented 6yo on walking the course and resigned to taking some of the longer options with the view that it would be a major achievement just to finish. Adrenalin took over and some slight encouragement from the club and Jacky and Atui did all but 1 of the direct options. What is more amazing is she came inside the time, the only rider in that class to do so!
As Alex got such a good placing on her horse she has also qualified that for the finals.
The Intermediate and Open sections at Aston ran in the old long format with roads and tracks and steeplechase so this will be new to many of the qualifiers and a lot of work is in front of them to get themselves and their horses fit and ready for the challenge.
This is fantastic for the riders, horses and the club and I hope you will all wish them well for Aston with as many of you as possible coming down to support at the event.Cheers Adrian

- Our first dressage and show-jumping training show held at Osberton on Thursday 30th June was a great success. The weather was perfect as the rain held off and atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. There was a good mixture of young and old horses, some coming back from injury and enjoying a quiet first show. We ran afternoon and evening sessions and both proved popular. Mark Cavell set up a lovely flowing show-jumping course including lots of spooky fillers and colourful fences which riders could choose to jump or pull the fillers to the side if they preferred. This new event was given a big thumbs up and the plan is to run another after camp in August and then look to start them earlier in the season next year. Look forward to seeing you in August, regards Becky Ball. Please click on the following to view results. Dressage Evening Results
- Well done Julia Hardy, Emma Shephard, Charlotte Stevens, and Hannah Cutler who represented EMDG at the outdoor show jumping championships at Lincoln showground intermediate class. A stiff course had poles rolling for all clubs there but everyone did a really good job and did very well finishing just outside the top placings.
